ARMSBY COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To provide leadership in developing programs and projects for the Armsby Honor Society membership.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans Annual Armsby Society Reception and Dinner and related activities (e.g., recruitment roundtable and research tour) for members.

DEVELOPMENT AND ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To provide stewardship for all Alumni Society endowments (Ag Alumni Scholarship Fund, Internship Award Endowment, Pasto Agricultural Museum Endowment).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements activities to raise funds for all endowments and other activities and programs created by the Alumni Society.
  • Provides fiscal and administrative oversight for Alumni Society endowments, as needed.

 


MEMBERSHIP BUILDING COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To increase alumni awareness of college, University, and society activities, as well as membership in the society and the Penn State Alumni Association.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the success of affiliate group programs by encouraging development of and supporting special interest alumni groups that can support departmental or extracurricular activities for the college.
  • Actively recruits members at all Alumni Society-sponsored activities and through other methods of encouraging alumni to join.

 


FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To foster fellowship, maintain an alumni organization, and preserve the unique experience of the college through activities. To maintain contacts with fellow alumni and promote the Alumni Society and college.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements the Graduation Brunches, in coordination with the spring commencement ceremonies, for seniors graduating in the spring and their families.
  • Plans and oversees the annual alumni activities at Ag Progress Days in August. Activities include the creation of an exhibit and hospitality area within the Alumni Pavilion and hosting the annual meeting and luncheon with the dean's State of the College report.
  • Plans and implements the Ag Live Tailgate at the last home football game of the season.
  • Supports reunion activities of the Penn State Alumni Association by planning ways in which the college can invite alumni to return for reunions and fellowship activities.
  • Encourages networking among alumni with similar interests or resources that might be of advantage to students and the college.

 


RECOGNITION COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To provide recognition activities of alumni, students, and faculty.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implements the Excellence in Academic Advising Award annually.
  • Works with the college in implementing the Outstanding Alumni Award.
  • Provides recognition to outstanding students at graduation.
  • Encourages internship experiences by providing awards to students through a judged competition among students who complete internships.
  • Provides scholarships for students through an endowed Alumni Scholarship Fund.

 


STUDENT ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To support student programs, provide opportunities for alumni to be active, and support student recruitment activities of the college.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and participates in student mentoring program.
  • Promotes alumni-sponsored events to all students in the college each year to increase student interest in Alumni Society activities, explore career opportunities, and meet alumni.

 


STUDENT ENROLLMENT COMMITTEE

 

Purpose: To assist the college in recruiting and retaining a high-quality and diverse pool of undergraduate students.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Office for Undergraduate Education to recruit and retain a high-quality and diverse pool of undergraduate students.
  • Develops and maintains relationship between alumni and campuses with ag programs (Berks, Mont Alto, and DuBois).
  • Participates in College Open Houses for prospective students.
